Sydney Mielcarski – A Place Away

In this painting, I imagined my ideal art studio space as being inside a lava cave with a view of hills and mountains in the distance. I wanted to create a non-traditional, beautiful but impossible space (I would realistically burn to death but I can ignore that in my imagination), while being alone and able to observe the rest of the world from a distance. I used acrylic paint to create vibrant colors for contrast as well as different shades of gray to show atmospheric perspective which highlights the distance between my studio and the outside world.
