ShortDocs Rules and Terms

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR FILM via Film Freeway.

This is a "local" film festival intended to present opportunities for novice and experienced filmmakers throughout the Lamorinda Community and it's immediate neighbors in Contra Costa County (towns included are Orinda, Lafayette,  Moraga, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, and Concord, CA).  Eligible Filmmakers include anyone who lives or works or attends school in any of the town mentioned above, or is the immediate family member of a Lamorinda Arts Council Volunteer.  Proof of local affiliation may be required from Finalists.

This is an all ages festival, and all content must be G rated and appropriate for all audiences.

Anyone under 18 must provide parental contact information, either as a primary or secondary contact.

Every Filmmaker is required to complete a Verification of Rules, Regulations, and Parental Consent.  If the Filmmaker is under 18 years of age, it must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.  When you are ready to submit your film, please download, sign, scan, and upload the signed document to the "Files & Attachments" section of your film's project page via Film Freeway.  No film can be shown at the festival without completion of this form.

Groups may enter, and should submit their film under one primary Filmmaker.  The oldest member of the group will determine the age category the film must enter.  (While students are allowed a reasonable amount of technical assistance from an adult or older student, true adult/child partners should enter the Adult category.)  Names of group participants should be entered in the Production Credits line of the Film Freeway submission form.  Groups will need to share potential awards and/or prizes to be determined later.

If a Filmmaker has had a prior professional or personal relationship with any of the festival judges, this does NOT disqualify the Filmmaker.  Based on the level of the relationship, the judge in question may be recused from that judging category to ensure the Filmmaker remains eligible and that judging will be unbiased.  This question will be asked during the Film Freeway submission process.  Failure to disclose could result in disqualification.

Any Filmmaker selected as a Finalist will be expected to attend the Live Screening.

Lamorinda ShortDocs Committee Members are not eligible to submit films to the festival, but their family members are, as are members of the Lamorinda Arts Council.
