Natalie Bove – Letters to My Younger Self

This piece was meant to demonstrate a world in which I was able to tell a younger version of myself all of the things that I wish that I could have heard from someone. I used a mixed media approach because I wanted to show how each part of me is a little different. I used colored pencils for more definition, oil pastels to show a rough side of me and show that life can be messy, and then I used paper to demonstrate the times where I was more focused and precise. The wording in the background is a cut up letter that I wrote to my younger self describing my love. This music that inspired this piece reminds me of child laughter and memories that need to be cherished. This artwork was inspired by the song “Little Rascal” by Toshifumi Hinata.
