Description

This photo of a coneflower bud was part of a school art project. The topic was “Artists are Recorders,” so I used my camera to document events in my day. On the weekends, one of the first things I do when I get up is check on my pollinator garden, which I planted last summer to attract native wildlife. In the early morning, my plants are covered in a light dusting of frost, but as the sun rises the frost begins to melt, and tiny water droplets bring out the subtle details of each flower. It’s quiet and peaceful, allowing me to slow down and appreciate beauty I might not have otherwise noticed. This coneflower bud has not reached its full potential, yet it is still beautiful in its own way. I wanted to capture the tranquility of the moment. I took this photo with an Olympus digital camera with a macro lens and lightly edited it using Adobe Lightroom.
