Naia Chiou-Williams – Through the Trees

“Through the Trees” was created for my Trimester 1 final project on sacred landscapes. I chose to depict the Kii Mountain Range in Japan. I researched why the Kii Mountain Range was in danger and decided to take that into consideration with my painting. The main reason it is endangered is because of tourism. With that in mind, I wanted to create a painting where the scene looked like a photo taken by a tourist of the mountain range.
