My piece represents personal growth, time, and transformation. Painted on a circular wood slice, the tree of life stands between and connects my younger self with my present self, with deep roots symbolizing the past that shapes my future – showing how who we are today is grounded in everything we’ve experienced in our past. Using mixed media, including watercolor as a wood stain, I created depth and texture while preserving the wood’s natural essence. Bright, hopeful colors reflect growth and optimism, while a butterfly flying through the scene symbolizes change and renewal.
