Description
My driving question for this art is “How can I express my style or identity with changes to my environment so viewers can see how the memory I captured makes me feel?” This work focused on reflecting the freedom and comfortability I felt at the top of the mountain Haleakala, where the original photograph came from. I started by drawing the image on paper and I experimented with what I could change in the background to keep the beauty of how stunning the place was while adding my artistic expression of how I felt. I changed the background and then I went over the picture with white gel pens using patterns that felt like clouds representing the expansion and interconnection of my aesthetic. The final part of my process was done by scanning and making a canvas print that I edited on Photoshop before and reflecting on myself to create a cool reflective image that changes the way the whole piece is seen.
