Description
Dasavatara (Dashavatara) refers to the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu, who takes different forms to restore cosmic balance and dharma. This painting has been done in Kerala Mural Art style. Kerala murals are a classical South Indian art form that depict mythology and legends on the walls of temples and churches which I visited them in my teenage years. I fell in love with their earthy colors — ochres, reds, greens and blues and bold outlines. Each avatar appears in a different era to protect the world from evil and guide humanity.
Each artwork I create carries traces of two worlds: the rooted heritage of India, and the expansive freedom of the American landscape. My art is an offering of what is painted and a reflection on what it evokes.
