Anna Messina – Unveiled

This self-portrait was inspired by the feeling of vulnerability. I decided to represent this throughout the composition by depicting what is physically underneath the surface of my skin and by making my expression nervous to demonstrate the feeling of fear when yielding a new side of yourself to others. The background of my portrait was meant to convey the feeling of being displaced and disconnected. I did this by placing myself in space and adding in some clunky, out-of-place, geometric shapes.
