Ainsley Kennedy – Little Fishy

In my art piece inspired by Studio Ghibli’s film “Ponyo,” I aimed to capture the magical-like theme of the movie through a blend of collage, colored pencil, and watercolor techniques. Using multiple ranges of colors and textures from the collage, I recreated the underwater world inhabited by Ponyo and the rest of the mythical sea creatures. I intentionally utilized a singular dull color for the backdrop and used vibrant colors for the animals, allowing them to stand out. Overall, my art piece serves as a representation of my favorite animation studio, exploring the depth of colors used in their film “Ponyo”, revealing the importance of color contrast and textures to illustrate the movement throughout the movie.
