Description
In this piece, I was inspired by the work of Jim Dine, who is renowned for his unique and beautiful charcoal drawings, prints, and paintings of tools. I used the additive and subtractive technique with charcoal and erasers to create a metallic effect while maintaining a darker background to execute the light areas. This also allows for creativity within the drawing, the shadows around the tool, and what can be exemplified with white chalk. The individual strokes are most apparent in the upper part of the drawing. Overall, it was an opportunity to express my love of working with charcoal to achieve a unique blend of light and dark with white highlights and a luminous finish.
