Description

In this project, I wanted to express how so many people feel disdain, distrust, and anger towards the judicial system.

I created a ceramic gavel which I split in half as if someone had hit it very hard, and it split. I have decided to paint the gavel white since I want it to be reminiscent of the white marble used on courthouses like the Supreme Court, or traditional government buildings.

The project split in two pieces purposely, is meant to try and explicitly name the fact that the judicial system is creating a divisive split within this nation. The fact that it is a gavel also makes a direct reference to these institutions.
