Moraga Art Gallery Announces a new exhibit titled, An Elegant Balance, opening February 18 through April 25, 2021.

The Moraga Art Gallery’s current exhibit, Spaces, Inside and Out, and the gallery’s Gift Boutique will continue through February 14, 2021.

An Elegant Balance features the work of member artists, George Ehrenhaft and K. de Groot.

The title of the exhibit describes the elegant balance between George Ehrenhaft’s rich and brightly painted watercolors and K. de Groot’s one-of-a-kind exotic jewelry.

As a watercolorist, George Ehrenhaft draws inspiration from mountains, lakes, trees and towns.  His style ranges from realistic to the vaguely abstract.  His paintings push no boundaries. Rather, they please the eye, soothe the spirit, and invite viewers to enjoy the wonders of the great outdoors.

Symphonies of color and texture in each piece are hallmarks of K. de Groot’s Asian Accents jewelry. Inspired by the exotic pendants and beads that she discovered over the past 30 years during her life in Asia and during her more recent travels, she has created her one-of-a-kind cross-cultural wearable art.

The Gallery’s Art Boutique features unique handmade gift items created by local artists including glass items, ceramics, beautiful wooden bowls, small paintings, decorative pillows, cards and jewelry.

Moraga Art Gallery is a cooperative featuring the work of eighteen established local artists and several guest artists whose work includes painting, sculpture, jewelry, print media, ceramics, photography and woodworking.

The gallery is open Saturdays 12pm-3pm and by appointment. Please email the gallery at moragaartgallery@gmail.com to make an appointment.

To safeguard our gallery staff and visitors, we require everyone visiting the gallery to wear a face mask and to maintain social distancing.

Event Details

“We’ve all got a story to tell, whether with words or pictures, or both,” says author and illustrator Elaine Drew. In her “Comics & Storyboards” talk presented by the Pleasanton Art League, she is excited to introduce participants to the many directions cartoons can take.

Drew says famous cartoonists don’t necessarily draw well. “Cartooning depends on ideas more than on drawing ability.” By accessing https://www.pal-art.com/ you can register for the event and download the free Workbook Drew will use for exercises during her presentation.

Her work has been exhibited in New York, California, Paris and England, and featured in many publications. She has shared her illustrations at Art Embraces Words & the Art Gallery at the Orinda Library. Drew is the author of the humorous romantic comedy Courting Trouble, a novel set against the backdrop of an early medieval kingdom. The king and queen, having survived her first novel, solve the mystery of a Nun Too Clever, soon to be released. Learn more at http://www.elainedrew.com.
