Event Details

The Lamorinda Arts Council is delighted to be part of the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival held Sat. and Sun., September 16 – 17, 2022. Hous on Sept. 16 for booth setup by volunteers is 9:00 am; the event is open from 10 AM to 7 PM on Saturday September 16.

We set up a double booth and 2 folding tables with chairs; one table is covered with material so as not to stain the table. The other table is to display information about the Lamorinda Arts Council’s many activities.

If you like being around children and art, this is a great opportunity to give back. The Council provides all art supplies including wipes, paints, paint brushes and paper. We string clothesline in the booth to hang the kids’ drawings to dry. It makes for a nice break both for littles and their parents. They return after their artwork is dry to collect their treasured drawing to bring home. 5

Contact the Council at info@lamorindaarts.org if you are interested in volunteering to have some fun with art and children or call 925.959.9940.

The mission of the Council is to ignite and sustain artistic expression and appreciation for all ages throughout Lamorinda. If you are interested in visual, performing or literary arts, please join us in keeping the arts alive. We are an engaged group of volunteers and donors who develop and produce events, partner with professional organizations and artists, give financial support and awards, and advocate for a vibrant, local culture of visual, performing, and literary arts.

Together they enrich our community. 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm Lafayette Library & Learning Center, Arts & Science Room, 3491 Mt Diablo Blvd, Lafayette CA 94549

Event Details

The Lamorinda Arts Council presents an Art Embraces Words Halloween Costume Event on Oct. 29, from 2 – 3:30 pm at the Lafayette Library, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette. Our program is held in the Arts & Science Room where emerging writers read from their work surrounded by artwork from local artists. In this way art literally “embraces” the spoken word.

While costumes are optional for our October 29, 2022 Halloween Program, we invite you to appear as your favorite Literary or Artistic character. Prizes will be awarded. Be there to see which playful characters show up! Find out who inspires lovers of literature and art. You can view YouTube videos from previous AEW programs click HERE.

Writers read their work using a mic  for 10 minutes followed by a short Q&A from the audience. Next an artist speaks about their work for 10 minutes followed by a short Q&A.  The program runs from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. followed by a reception on the outdoor patio. A media table is provided where authors are encouraged to sell books and artists provide information about their work.

The final AEW 2022 program will be a Webinar hosted by AEW alumni Denise Nomura and Natalie Samuels Wheeler in November; date TBD. We invite lovers of the spoken word and visual art, writers and visual artists to register online to participate.  Visit https://lamorindaarts.org/art-embraces-words/ for more  information. This program is funded by a generous grant from the Lafayette Community Foundation.
