Description
This artwork depicts a girl swimming in a sea of clothing, symbolizing the overwhelming impact of consumerism and waste on both individuals and global communities. It reflects the reality many face at home, with piles of discarded clothes representing excess and detachment from the environmental and social consequences of fast fashion. The scene draws attention to how this waste often ends up in places like Ghana, where entire landscapes are transformed into “clothing seas," disrupting ecosystems and livelihoods. Beyond its environmental commentary, the artwork delves into the connection between internal and external chaos—how a disorganized, busy inner world can manifest as physical clutter and unsustainable habits. It invites viewers to consider the relationship between personal responsibility, mindfulness, and global sustainability. I used a variety of materials, scarps of clothing and cardboard, string, plastic backs, and other random materials. The project is layered and is 3D. Emphasizing the real impact that our choices make.
Hope you like it! It cannot be framed because of its size and thickness.
