Description
Using a Canon EOS 3000D camera and an 18-55mm lens, I set out to capture the complexity of grief—its warmth, its weight, and its lingering and haunting presence. This photograph portrays a guardian angel not only mourning her loss but steadfastly watching over the grave of the soul she was destined to protect, even beyond death. It is a visual representation of how grief manifests in reality—the way love endures beyond loss, how absence can feel like a presence, and how we continue to guard the memories of those who have passed. The natural light that day was a gift, perfectly enhancing the atmosphere without the need for additional props or equipment—just myself and the camera. Taking on the roles of both photographer and subject gave me complete creative control over every detail, allowing me to bring my vision to life exactly as I had imagined, while also channeling my own understanding of mourning and remembrance. I was able to translate these strong emotions into imagery that is not just a simple photograph, but a deeply personal exploration of loss, remembrance, and connections that remain beyond the grave. This photo is in loving memory of the ones that have left us in the physical realm, but remain within us forever though the spiritual realm.
