I created the effect in this photo through double exposure. I took two photos, one of myself and one of the tree branches and layered them in Photoshop to blend the branches with the portrait. I wanted to to convey how nature, and its interlocking branches are an intrinsic part of us as humans. And how those parts of us blend seamlessly with who we are today
