Description
In this piece, I wanted to capture the feeling of family pressures. Not only am I the oldest child in my household family, but in my extended family as well. I wanted to express the feeling of having to be the perfect role model for my siblings and cousins. I am also a third-generation immigrant. So, not only do I have the pressure to be the ideal child for the younger children, but I also have the pressure to be successful and support my family. In this piece, I am expressing the feeling of trying to be the person my family wants me to be instead of the person I want to be, ultimately suppressing my wants, dreams, and ambitions to follow the path they have set out for me.
