This piece was made to reflect feelings of suffocation through the subject of a great blue heron that is being strangled by thorns and flowers. The heron is an animal, a part of nature, yet nature itself is ultimately what has trapped the bird. This piece highlights the state of silent suffering, of becoming trapped in one’s own home.
