Description
This piece depicts a picture of me at 8 years old with my family’s brand new puppy, Charlie. I was inspired to create this piece by the work of Norman Rockwell, who I have come to love as I have discovered more of his hyper realistic, nostalgic works that display the values of a simple American life. I think that my piece reflects those themes well. When I look at my piece, I remember the happy innocence of that time and the amount of love I already felt for my dog even after spending so little time with him. I am also very proud of the realism that I achieved with my piece using my favorite medium, colored pencils. To me, Charlie’s fur and my hair are the best examples of how I have worked to improve my skills with this medium.
