This is a photo I took with my iPhone at the Senso-Ji, the oldest temple in Tokyo, Japan in February 2020. The Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, commonly known as Kannon, is known for “being the most compassionate, and for relieving suffering and answering prayers with great benevolence.” As I walked around Asakusa, I saw people praying among the crowds of people as if no one was there. I loved the contrast of the peaceful praying and the hustle and bustle of the tourists around them which is captured in the photo.
