My art is a collection of all the techniques I have learned in the past year while taking art for the first time. I incorporated my love for astronomy and the stars with this piece so this piece has more meaning to me. It is the biggest piece I have made so far so it was a bit of a challenge for me. I made my piece all from clay using the pinch pot method. I used a coil on the bottom of my lid so that it wouldn’t slip off. There are 3 parts to my project. The lid, the middle where I put some carvings into it, and the bottom that is just the base of everything. Last year I decided I wanted to take ceramic because it was the most challenging part of my art class last year. I wanted to present myself with a challenge and overcome it. Although my work isn’t perfect, I have improved drastically from last year where I couldn’t make a bowl. I am finally able to use ceramics as a way to express myself.
