Guest Speakers include Laura VanZee Taylor, whose first feature length documentary, I Am Maris premiered in 2019 and can currently be watched on Netflix, and Kal Deutsch, whose “mockumentary short,” IceVan.com was shown at the Sundance Film Festival.
The event is free, but please register as a Filmmaker for the festival and let us know you are coming. https://lamorindaarts.org/for-filmmakers
We are pleased to announce that this year’s festival will be hosted by the California Independent Film Festival (CAIFF) and will take place on August 25th at the historic Orinda Theatre. Completed films will be due by June 16th.
Lamorinda ShortDocs is a short documentary film competition open to filmmakers of all ages who live or attend school in the Lamorinda Community. Films must be 6 minutes or less and will be judged in 4 categories by age: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and Adult. Finalists in each category will be selected and those films will be screened publicly during the Lamorinda ShortDocs live screening at CAIFF. One winner in each age group will be selected and announced at the screening, where an Audience Favorite Student Film will also be awarded. Finalists are expected to attend the August 25th event.
Filmmakers are encouraged to register for the festival here: https://lamorindaarts.org/for-filmmakers before submitting their completed films to Film Freeway here: https://filmfreeway.com/LamorindaShortDocsFilmFest.
