In celebration of the de Young museum’s 125th anniversary, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are hosting The de Young Open, a juried community art exhibition of submissions by artists who live in the nine Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma.
Beginning in June 2020, an impressive 11,514 artworks were submitted by 6,188 artists. Every artwork image was reviewed anonymously by a group of qualified jurors who did not know the identities of the artists. Less than 8 percent of all the works are in the current show.
The 877 works in the show are hung “salon-style,” edge to edge and floor to ceiling in the 12,000 sq. ft. Herbst Exhibition Gallery to allow the maximum number of works to be shown. Visit https://deyoung.famsf.org/exhibitions/de-young-open for more information.
Congratulations to the following East Bay artists whose work was chosen to be shown in The de Young Open: Christian Ehrhorn, Judith Feins, Karen Frey, Sarah Benioff Friedman, Kathleen Gadway, Juanita Hagberg, Linda Huffman, Carolyn Lord, Jody Madison, Ellen Moderbacher, Jennifer Perlmutter, and Nancy Vachani. Bravo!!
If you know of any other East Bay artists whose work is in the de Young Open, please let us know at info@lamorindaarts.org
