Join us for the Lamorinda Arts Council’s free Art Embraces Words event in the Arts & Science Room at the Lafayette Library & Learning Center.

Attending patrons are seated in the middle of the room surrounded by artwork from local artists. In this way the art literally “embraces” the words spoken by emerging writers who read excerpts from their work. Artwork is videoed and uploaded to our social media sites; go here to view a video from a recent program.

Our Master of Ceremonies, Lafayette resident Lynn Carey, former host of the Times Book Club, moderates the event. Carey introduces each writer at approximately 10 minute intervals. A short Q & A session follows as well as introductions of each artist showing work. Then patrons, writers and artists are invited to a reception on the adjacent vine covered patio to enjoy each other’s company; refreshments will be served. A media table is provided for authors’ books, artist contact and other information of interest to the local arts community. Writers are encouraged to sell their books.
