BILL SALA

June 11, 2019

Tuesday Evening Meeting at 7:30pm

Alamo Women’s Club, 1401 Danville Blvd., Alamo, CA

BILL SALA was born in Oakland, California during the Great Depression. From his first memory, he wanted to be an artist but his life’s circumstance lead him to work in construction for many years and to put aside his dream of attending art school.

In time his artwork was accepted in galleries while he continued to work in construction until his retirement.  After that, he turned to painting full time.

Remarkably, he is a self-taught surrealist oil painter who, through self-study of classical artists and surrealists, developed his natural talent into a success career late in life.

Bill became a master surrealist who delivers painted and detailed compositions that are reminiscent of art by Salvadore Dali and Rene Magritte. His works captivate the imagination, ignore reality, and leave the viewer wanting more.  His work is described as “inventive”, “colorful:, “irreverent”, and “edgy”, which are stunning accolade for a self-taught artist who likes to keep stretching artistically. Bill’s unique approach to his graphic use of color and thematic style is unparalleled by other contemporary surrealist artists.

Bill will be demonstrating a surrealistic oil painting.
