Directed by Maestro Lawrence Kohl, Pacific Chamber Orchestra presents “American Radio Hour”: a look back to the music before television to a world premiere of a Jazz Violin Concerto. The program includes Scott Joplin’s delightful rag-time hit “The Entertainer”; George Gershwin’s sweet “Lullaby for Strings”; Charles Ives’ amusing “Three Short Pieces”; Aaron Copland’s masterful “Appalachian Spring”; and two-time Grammy winner Mads Tolling’s “Yggdrasil” a concerto for Jazz Violin and Chamber Orchestra.
Maestro Lawrence Kohl introduces each selection providing a connecting thread between music, composers, musicians and audience.
