Join the Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art (SMCMoA) for a behind-the-scenes exploration into the artwork and artists represented in the exhibition Aesthetic Forces: Nature in the Modern California Landscape, 1915–2015.
On view from February 10–July 11, 2021, Aesthetic Forces is a survey exhibition exploring land scenes through the perceptions of artists who lived and worked in the California region. From San Francisco’s Panama Pacific International Exposition to California’s landmark drought—this exhibition folds 100 years of cultural and environmental changes into the framework of California land interpretations and the lingering rapport of 18 and 19th-century aesthetic practices into the genre of landscape art today.
Please note the SMCMoA physical building is currently closed in compliance with county and regional COVID-19 regulations.
